Tim Carter, Auction Manager/Auctioneer
Tim joined Barfoot & Thompson in 2007 as manager of our full time dedicated auction team. He also calls the majority of our mortgagee auctions.
On joining the real estate industry in 1991, Tim immediately saw the benefits that auctions would bring to his clients and his business. By 1993 he was recognised as one of the industry's top marketers of auction properties, winning many awards for his outstanding results.
In 2000 he took the next logical step of becoming an auctioneer and has since called several thousand auctions.
An associate of the Real Estate Institute since 1997, Tim is highly regarded within the industry.
Tony Loughran, Auctioneer & Marketing Advisor, North Shore
Tony has amassed an extensive curriculum vitae in real estate experience in only a decade in the industry, being a successful salesperson before moving into auctioneering in both local and national roles. He also has experience in real estate office management, business development and training.
Tony works closely with the salespeople in his area to ensure they are truly providing the best service to their vendors.
A sense of humour, honesty and integrity have helped make Tony a well-respected auctioneer amongst his clients, colleagues and peers.
Marian Tolich, Auctioneer & Marketing Advisor, Central West and West
Marian Tolich is one of New Zealand’s leading Auctioneers, with over 20 years of real estate experience, with an extensive knowledge of the Auckland region.
One of New Zealand’s only full time female Auctioneers, Marian is one of only two women to have gained Accredited Auctioneer status from the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ).
At the 2000 NZ Property Auctioneers’ Championships, Marian was placed 4th - one of only two woman finalists in Australasia since the inaugural Championships in 1993.
She has earned a reputation for her honest and professional Auctioneering skills coupled with marketing excellence and an Auction sale success rate that is the envy of many of her colleagues.
Murray Smith, Auctioneer & Marketing Advisor, Central
Murray Smith entered real estate in 1989, when property auctions were beginning to become an accepted method of sale. As a salesperson he focused on auctions from day one, and took the next step to conducting them in 1992, when he sold his first one under the hammer. After completing his 500th auction two years later, he was accredited as an REINZ auctioneer. He has since wielded the gavel on more than 5000 property auctions and was judged New Zealand’s best property auctioneer at the 2002 REINZ Property Auctioneering Championships.
An associate of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand and holder of a Diploma in Business Studies (Real Estate), Murray brings a wealth of property marketing knowledge to his role as auctioneer and marketing advisor with Barfoot & Thompson.
David Johnstone, Auctioneer & Marketing Advisor, South and East
David Johnstone has been calling Auctions in Auckland for over 34 years and brings to Barfoot & Thompson a wide range of knowledge and experience. As well as real estate, he has sold antiques, fine art, jewellery, vehicles, company receiverships and liquidations as a director of his own auction company.
David has completed the Advanced Auctioneer’s Course and was placed in the top 4 in the 1998 and 2004 New Zealand Property Auctioneers’ Championships.
When it comes to selling your home, David believes with a passion that wide spread marketing exposure is the key to success. He is committed to sharing his experience with you, so that you too can benefit and be a part of the excitement that is selling real estate.
Tim McGoldrick, Auctioneer & Marketing Advisor – North Shore and West
Tim McGoldrick joined the Auction team in April 2012.
Having gained his Real Estate License in December 2009 and has been calling auctions (Real Estate and a lot of charity ones) ever since.
Tim was born into real estate with a father that has been an auctioneer for the past 20 years. He has fond childhood memories of his job being to ring the bell while his dad was calling on-site auctions.
Tim is passionate about providing good, honest service.
Tim will look after the area across the top of the North Shore and Western Auckland.
David Roy AREINZ, Auctioneer – Northland
David has been a licensed Auctioneer for 7 years, during which time he has been involved in property sales across all real estate sectors in Northland.
In his role as Northland Auctioneer for Barfoot & Thompson he is committed to getting the best results for clients through the auction process.
David also sells quality horticultural and lifestyle properties throughout Northland and as the only horticultural specialist in the north he has sold many prestigious properties over the past 9 years.
David holds both his Real Estate Agents and Branch Managers License and competed for the first time in the 2009 REINZ National Auctioneering Competitions.
