Find out how the average rent for different-sized Auckland properties has changed over the past year.

  • Rents in the greater Auckland Region have increased an average of 2.7% or $15 per week in the past 12 months.
  • The average rent for a 3 bedroom property is now $576 per week.
  • Central Auckland has seen the greatest increase of the focus areas  - up 7.6% or $37 per week.
  • Rents in the Central and Eastern suburbs have increased less than 2% over 12 months.
  • In both focus areas it is 4 bedroom properties that have contained overall growth.

Source: Barfoot & Thompson analysis of its tenancies as at July 2019 and its sales over the last six months for three bedroom properties. Gross yield is calculated using the average sales price and average rental per week for three bedroom properties. Suburbs with less than four tenancies or four sales for three bedroom properties with Barfoot & Thompson are not included.
