A closer look at the average rent for two bedroom properties
In the last year, two bedroom properties have increased by 5.41%, with West Auckland seeing the greatest change.
The average rental price for a two bedroom property increased by $20.40 per week over the past 12 months - an increase of 5.41% (from $377 to $398).
The central city has seen the lowest increase, with a shift of only 1.56%. Although this increase is marginal, the central city still remains the highest priced area for two bedroom properties, with properties receiving an average of $495 per week as of 31 March 2015.
West Auckland saw an increase of 7.05%, from $333 in 2014 to $357 in 2015. This brings it more in line with other parts of Auckland.
Tuakau in Franklin Manukau holds the lowest average rental price of the suburbs analysed, with an average of $241 for a two bedroom property.

The most two bedroom properties are found in the Central Suburbs, followed by the North Shore, South Auckland and the Eastern Suburbs. Franklin/Manukau has the least number of two bedroom properties.
Two bedroom properties by type
Units are by far the most common type, making up nearly half of all two bedroom properties. Two bedroom houses make up around a quarter, followed by apartments. Townhouses and flats are the least common types of two bedroom properties.
Data source: Barfoot and Thompson managed properties with two bedrooms. Averages are calculated as the current managed two bedroom properties as at 31st March for 2014 and 31st March 2015. Suburbs with less than 8 properties have been excluded.
